I love animals! I truly do. Growing up we always had a least one pet - and at one time we had around ten. Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, a mouse - you name it. Currently I am a proud parent of a pug and a pot-bellied pig. In total my family has four pugs: three fawns and one black. Needles to say, they are just like family members to us. They have their own beds, blankets, baskets of toys, even their own Christmas stockings. So, it goes without saying that we want them as healthy as possible and feeding them just any type of dog food is not an option.
Out of the four pugs, the oldest is eight and the youngest is two. Over the past 8 years we have tried many different brand name, 'high quality' dog foods. We even spent a good year or so making their food ourselves. As many different products I tried, and even with the homemade food, I wasn't satisfied with certian aspects in my dogs life. Bad breath, dull fur, constant hunger and way too many bowel movements with way too much to pick up, if you know what I mean. I knew those weren't signs of a healthy dog, so I got online and did some research for myself.
After much 'surfing' I ended up on a forum on feeding pets. In this particular forum I came across a couple messages that mentioned the Blue Buffalo dog food (which happens to be holistic). I checked the cost and found out it cost more, but if it delivered what they promised, it was worth it. Anything for my puppy!
Within the first week there was already a major change with the amount of bowel movements he had during a days time - as well as the amount each time. Over a period of a couple of weeks, he was actually satisfied after eating and at times, wouldn't even finish the full portion given to him (extremely uncommon for my dog who was hungier than my pot-bellied pig most of the time!) He now only goes to the bathroom 2-3 times a day with a normal amount of solid (and I emphasize solid as he NEVER had solid waste in close to 7 years).
I was thrilled!!! After seven years, I finally feel good about what food my dog is getting. I shared the good news with my mom and sister and now the other three pugs are all eating Blue Buffalo dog food as well. The oldest pug had to be forced to eat for almost 8 years. He never liked the food he was eating and would just sit and stare at his bowl. He now eats without any 'prodding', which is a wonderful thing.
