book review:
"Stress Less"
by Kari Newsom
Stress. That one word can sum up what 98% of Americans have lording over them 24/7. Stress is so prevalent in this day and age, that it is looked upon as normal. People act as if you 'have' to be stressed to be productive, average and normal. If that's the case, then I will do all I can not to be normal.
In Stress Less, Dr. Don Colbert covers every nook and cranny of our physical bodies and what takes place in them to cause us to be a 'stressed-out' person. He also addresses the spiritual and emotional issues that contribute to stress in our lives and bodies.
What stood out to me in this book was the intricate detail about how our physical bodies function on a day to day basis, and how everything we do and the decisions we make will affect it's function. What we eat, how we handle anger, how much (or little) sleep we get - everything operates under the 'seedtime and harvest' principal. In other words, what you sow, you will reap.
As much as we like to think we are untouchable, this book proves otherwise and with scientific evidence. You may see nothing wrong with drinking 12 cans of soda a day - but your body was created to know better. You may think it's fine to hold all your negative emotions in, but there will be negative consequences in our bodies when we do. I'm sure we've all known someone (if not ourselves) that has held on to anger or bitterness or sadness and have been more prone to sicknesses, have headaches more often, and a volcano of emotions that eventually come flowing out all at one time.
Dr. Don Colbert helps put into perspective the importance of how we take care of our spirit, soul and body. You'll learn the truth that we must take care of our bodies, physically and emotionally, and why it's detrimental to our health if we don't. It's sad that we as a human race take better care of our cars and boats then we do our own bodies.
If you're fed up with being stressed out, tired, depressed, unhappy and just plain miserable - take the time to read this book. It will give you examples of how we bring stress and destruction into our lives, how it affects our lives (spirit, soul and body) and what we can do to change this destructive pattern.
Stress Less is a great tool to bring light to the fact that our bodies work miraculously, and what we do to our bodies will have consequences - good or bad. After reading this you can no longer believe that you can live however you want and treat your body however you want - and that those decisions won't affect you. They do. So, make the decision today to stop the stress in your life by educating yourself on this subject using Stress Less as part of your reading material. It will change the way you think about certain things and as Dr. Creflo Dollar states, "If you can change the way a man thinks, you can change the man."
