Bring to Boil :
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 cup water
- 4 tbsp cocoa
In a medium bowl, add to that mixture:
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup butter milk or sour cream (if using sour cream, add 1 tsp white vinegar to batter)
Spread in greased and floured pan and bake at 375 degrees for 22 minutes.
Frosting:
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 4 tbsp cocoa
- 6 tbsp whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 16 oz box powdered sugar
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Mix all ingredients together and blend thoroughly. Spread on cake DIRECTLY out of oven. The frosting will melt, but will harden with a smooth finish.
